Edith Alpert Gold, Dora Alpert Raab, Israel Alpert and Robert [Alpert] were the children of Louis Alpert (born February 12, 1868 in Odessa, Russia) and Bella Levit (______) of Weirton, West Virginia. There, __________ owned a furniture store from which Edith (and probably the others) purchased furniture for their homes. Edith had a beautiful dining room set, alabaster lamp, a pair of torchiere and other beautiful furnishings treasured and used not only by her, but by her children and grandchildren. The alabaster lamp was purchased during the Great Depression and when it was delivered, the delivery man unfortunately dropped and broke it. Edith complained (not sure if the delivery man lost his job) and received a new one. Ben Reed, Edith’s great-grandson currently has that lamp.
Edith married Melvin Harold Goldstein (later changed to Gold) and they had two children, Richard Gold and Lora Gold Reed.
Richard married Erika Taubner Gold and together they had two children, Marilyn Zass (nee Gold) and Allen Gold.
Lora married Thomas W. Reed and they had three children, Michael G. Reed, Judith R. Reed and Susan Ellen Reed.
Dora married Harry Raab and together they had four children, Sandy (who died of a heart attack at approximately 40 years of age, leaving two children, Jamie and Jim), Maxine, Lillian and Ella.
Maxine married Saul Teplitz and they had two children, Larry (who is very, very ill) and Joel (both in Cleveland).
Lillian married Abraham Herbert Kanter and together they had three daughters, Barbara, who married David Brandt, Roseanne, who married Mark Rosen and Karen, who married ___________Robbins.
Ella married _________ and they had two children, Michael and Hallie.
Israel married ___________ and together they had two children, Lucy (Phoenix) and Ben (New York). Lucy married ________ and had two daughters, Judy and Marilyn.
Robert married _________ and had four children-Leonard (who had cancer of the mouth and attended Ohio State University’s law school and has a son, Alex or Robert who lives in California) who married _____________, Charles (who never married), Harriet (Pittsburgh and has twins who live in Chicago and a daughter) and Lillian (who married ____________ and has two sons, William and Robert (Robert is believed to live in Pittsburgh).
