Background:

Blanka Rosenblum (1894- 1944) )married Ignatz Grunwald (1892-1944). Together, they had 5 children- Edit, Aliz, Herman, Katalin and Tibor all of which miraculously survived World War II.

Katalin (1927) married (Istvan Borbas) Steven Berger (1923-2007) and they had two children, Andrew (1956) and Wendy (1962).

Andrew (1956) married Jeanie Woo (1960) and they had 2 children, Jeremy (1995) and Mark (1997)

Wendy (1962) married David Ward (1963) and they also had 2 children, Danielle (1995) and Alexander (1997).

Katalin or “Potyi” as she was known to many, spent time in the displaced persons camp known as Feldafing, outside of Munich, Germany. This former Hitler youth facility served as an all Jewish Displaced Persons Camp after the end of World War II. Putschi lived with her cousin Tom and her Uncle Eugene Weissbluth there until leaving to be with her brothers and sisters.

Istvan Borbas and his brother met Katalin’s sister (Edith?) on their way out of Hungary. She had left her sisters in Feldafing and was on her way back. She brought Istvan Borbas and his brother there.

Aliz and Potyi lived in several places while in Feldafing. For a period of time, they rented a room in the Darnhofer Home located at Wielinger Strasse 33 which belonged the Grunwald family and they still own it as of this date. they live next door.
